Mental Terrorism/Losing Weight

I wrote this for Just Think Newsletter Vol 62 , thought i would also share it on my site

Mental Terrorism/Losing Weight:

"I'm on a diet" "I don't eat pork" "I don't smoke" "I don't drink"

How often have you heard these statements and others similar to them? Many of us work to keep our bodies looking and feeling good with different forms of exercise, proper diet or rest. But what about our minds? Do we actively filter what we ingest as we would with food? Negative thoughts can be just like putting poison in our bodies.

Why work hard 4 days a week to have the perfect body but allow trash to infiltrate your mind. A friend of mine remarked there are mental terrorists whose sole purpose is to wage war on the rest of us who want to keep a clean mind. I found that hilarious and suggested a mental purge for those infected.

With so many outlets for us to freely absorb thoughts (twitter, facebook, etc) are we unknowingly receiving negative energy from a person who we should have no business reading up on ? Not saying that everything you read should be powerful and uplifting but the next time you read a negative tweet, text, email or facebook status bashing people, remember the power of suggestion is very strong.

IS IT ALL A GAME???? LIFE THAT IS.

IS IT ALL A GAME???? LIFE THAT IS.

Is it all a big game to keep you occupied? From the food you eat to the knowledge you are given to ingest and regurgitate? For example when there could possibly be a disaster "they" look for ways to break the news to not cause panic but on the reverse side when "they" are using scare tactics and having people running around crying Apocalpyse Now, should we not apply the same logic? Emotion is used to manipulate any situation or so it would seem. People are so used to Fake that they get scared when presented with the real. But what do i know???

Tribute to Notorious Big

Today marks the anniversary of the death of Christopher "Notorious Big" Wallace, artist, father and inspiration to many. I remember like it was yesterday walking home from school with headphones, downtown brooklyn listening to his first album "Ready to Die". A favorite of mine was "Gimme the Loot" , a graphic depiction of two stick up kids catching unsuspecting victims or vics. Big ushered in his own style of rap, describing himself as black and ugly as ever, he embraced his size and blackness but still had a player's smooth demeanor with his mastery of words, painting pictures every time he touched a track. Prior to Big's arrival on the scene, i will have to say that west coast rap dominated for the most part but after him the focus shifted back to the east. Big was one of the few rappers who could give you a grimy tale, make you laugh and impress the ladies all on one album. His greatest strength was storytelling which literally could put you right there in the as clearly shown on tracks like Juicy,I got a story to tell and Somebody's got to die. Big only was able to release Ready to Die before his death but all his music has still been able to touch fans as if he were still here today.

From the Ella Bleu Newsletter- "Your Best Bet (Why We Lie to Women)"

Disclaimer: Just my opinion for a certain situation, doesn't apply to all and I'm not Dr.Phil

The first tip I gave was to believe there are good men and learn how to recognize such. This is part two, keep your expectations to yourself. Why? Because then you allow the other person to act "natural" and not try to fit the "mold" that you are laying out. The best way to really get to know someone is to nurture an environment where they can be themselves. If they're not the type to open doors, bring you flowers and chocolates every week, let them show you in their own way that they're interested or care about you. Everyone doesn't fit that Disney Fairy tale image of showing up in shining armor with roses, diamonds, castles and flowers (all material things).

A person can't keep it "Real" with you if you don't let them....

Seen it.Like a 27 inch Zenith.Believe it.

It's funny how the Kanye interruption seems to have more coverage and bother more people deeply than the President being interrupted. More confusing still is the strong opposition to trying to find a way for people to afford healthcare.
This whole healthcare thing seems to be such a major issue for people as if trying to help another human being is the equivalent of dropping a nuclear bomb. I hear the "leave things as they are" rhetoric but has that ever worked ? If something isnt working why not try something else?
What if we just left things as they were since the conception of this country called America.....

An older lady once remarked to me that things were easier back in the old days, goods were cheaper, there wasn't that much competition for jobs, money was worth more but then she threw in ,except for that slavery stuff though....

RIGHT! (insert the "things shouldn't change way of thinking here)

We can send aid to other countries, fight for animal rights, send threats to people who run abortion clinics but to at least try to find a way that healthcare can be both reasonable and affordable for employers, employees and the uninsured seems to be too much.

We see there's a problem but ignoring it won't make it go away.
