On set with Model Sensation in Lexington,ky for their Bikini Bike Bandits photoshoot, i ran into Mino Slick (artist, producer and writer) who recently dropped his new song "Spaced Out" which was the perfect soundtrack for such a day with beautiful models and dope street bikes.
The official video for the first single off of Leela James' album titled My Soul, is "Tell Me You Love Me," produced by Gerrard C Baker, my friend and fellow brooklyn native who also produced for the likes of Toni Braxton, Billy Crawford,Fabolous and Sean Paul. Gerrard also produced the intro to her album called "I aint new to this".
"Tell me you love me" was written by Andrea Martin who also wrote "It kills me" for Melanie Fiona which is on the radio currently. Andrea Martin has a long history of writing hits and can be easily found on Wikipedia, (she also wrote Better Man for Toni Braxton which Gerrard produced.)
The sample on this beat was actually lifted from one of my old records that i took over to Gerrard 's crib one summer,it was "Then You Can Tell Me Goodbye" by the Manhattans. To have heard the original, then the beat then the song then to see it brought to life with a video is inspiring. There is still good music being made despite what many people say. So support this record, support my people and keep good music alive with the labels by buying My Soul when it drops.
My Soul is set to drop on May 25th on Stax Records, a division of Concord Music Group, which is also home to many of the great soul singers. The video for "Tell me you love me" is also on Mtv.com and Bet.com
Off of the V-Day project from brooklyn's A-Smash,the song The Matrix speaks on the topic of love from this young man's perspective. I picked the song for its mellow beat and also the topic is one we are all too familiar with: Being in love aka Being caught in the Matrix.
Usher Raymond lets it all out in his new song titled "PAPERS",check it out You leave me no options girllll...only usher could make a song about signing divorce papers and make it sound good CLick above pic for mp3 file
New music from Scoupe out of NHB music, repping Lexington,ky. An artist that paints the picture of his city and that kentucky is not all country like some may initially think. Raw lyricism combined with driving basslines is what you may first expect from Scoupe but he is also known to flip it and spit on east coast tracks as well. so Get Familiar!!
On this track ,he poses the question what if everything was different, the opposite of what it is now. "could you imagine black people not struggling?..... all of us with old money?" "what if my lessons wasn't learned and bush came back to ruin the world with a third term, and bullets didn't burn and kindness could kill, you would actually get respect out here for being real" www.myspace.com/blacklifeentertainment Scoupe on twitter
I like this track,it's asking the questions we ask everyday.Take a listen
